The Grassroots Organizing Hub at CROs provides stewardship and technical services to the movement for climate and racial justice in Vermont. The Hub stewards a network of aligned projects, groups and individuals. The Hub’s services include fiscal sponsorship; Just Transition-aligned jobs; community wellness gifts; coalition administration and support; and mutual aid stewardship. The Hub’s services can help clarify and prioritize opportunities for community resilience and equity, then steward those projects to fruition.
When communities self-organize after disaster into mutual aid hubs and other autonomous support formations, people get to know each other and identify unmet needs. Out of that knowing grows a collective capacity to consider alternative systems and projects, which often need structure and support.
CROs’ grassroots organizing hub offerings, from technical assistance to fiscal sponsorship, support visionary emergent projects in getting up and running. We recognize that nonprofits, and access to nonprofit status, have a role to play in supporting social movement ecosystems. While nonprofits are certainly not the only way for radical work to thrive, this structure can be useful and even essential to creating viable conditions for that work. CROs creates access to that structure and the assets it can unlock for our collective work.
